A propos du project

Strata of Memory is a multi-sensory interactive VR experience based on the eponymous painting of internationally renowned Syrian-Armenian painter KEVORK MOURAD.
Inspired by the Arabic folk tale A Thousand and One Night (a story, within a story, within a story etc.) this embedded narrative invites the visitor on a quest to unravel the Storyteller’s most buried memory. A scene that has haunted him for his entire life: his parents hastily packing a suitcase to flee their war-torn home.
This VR experience is a poetic meditation on exile, and the role of memory and collective memory in the inheritance of trauma due to war.
