Henri Atlan
Henri Atlan is a medical doctor, a doctor in sciences and philosophy, Emeritus Professor of biophysics at Paris VI and Jerusalem universities, Head of the Biophysics Department at the Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Paris, founder of the Human Biology Research Center at the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, and professor at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHSS) in Paris.
He has developed a theory on complexity and self-organization, and written numerous works on cellular biology, immunology, artificial intelligence, philosophy and ethics in biology.
His latest publication is Cours de philosophie biologique et cognitiviste. Spinoza et la biologie actuelle (“Lessons in the philosophy of biology and cognitive science: Spinoza and biological sciences today”) (Odile Jacob, 2018).
