Residencies 2024
Thanks to many partners around the world, the NewImages Hub is proud to have built an international network to support and impulse XR creation.
NewImages supports international immersive creation through residencies, co-created with partner institutions. Through these programs, NewImages encourages young creators by fostering the emergence of new talent and new collaborations between the French and different international ecosystems.
Call for applications 2024
FARNESE – MEDICI XR RESIDENCY
Open to any:
– any type of XR project (360° virtual reality, interactive reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, installations including immersive technologies).
– in development, French production or co-production.
Advantages:
✔ 4-week residency at the Villa Medici (Rome)
✔ endowment of €6,000
✔ connections with the local XR ecosystem
✔ acquisition by Rai Cinema
✔ invitation to festivals and professional events in Italy
In partnership with: the Embassy of France in Italy, the Institut français Italia, the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici, Rai Cinema and Videocittà.

VILLA FORMOSE IMMERSIVE – FRANCE XR PROTOTYPING RESIDENCY
Call for projects until
Sept. 3rd, 2023
Open to any:
– all creative and innovative XR or immersive projects (VR360, VR interactive, augmented or mixed reality, installation including immersive technologies, hybrid live performance)
– in development, Taiwanese production or co-production
Advantages:
✔ 3 to 7 weeks of residency in Paris between March and April 2024
✔ accommodation and workspace included
✔ mentoring sessions on XR production and distribution
✔ a total grant of 1,400,000 NTD including but not limited to, production fee,
daily living allowance of 50 EUR/day, insurances and taxes
✔ round trip flight tickets covered by the partners
✔ the provision of VR headsets and other equipment on site

VILLA FORMOSE IMMERSIVE – TAIWAN XR WRITING RESIDENCY
Open to any:
– narrative and immersive project (XR, video games, hybrid shows or any other innovative device)
– in developement or concept, French production or co-production.
Advantages:
✔ 3 weeks of residency in Taiwan between October and November 2023, flight tickets, accommodation and workspace included
✔ a tailored program of workshops, writing and networking sessions with Taiwanese professionals and the local ecosystem
✔ pitching session of the projects during Taiwan Creative Content Fest in front of Taiwanese professionals (producers, studios, distributors, investors, etc.)

VILLA FORMOSE IMMERSIVE – TAIWAN XR PROTOTYPING RESIDENCY
Open to any:
– narrative and immersive project (XR, video games, hybrid shows or any other innovative device)
– In development, French production or co-production
Advantages:
✔ 3 to 7 weeks of residency in Kaohsiung, Taiwan between October and November 2023
✔ accommodation and workspace included
✔ mentoring sessions on XR production and distribution
✔ a daily allowance of NTD$ 500/day
✔ round trip flight tickets covered by the partners
✔ the provision of VR headsets and other equipment on site
✔ an endowment of EUR 20,000

QUITO – UDLA IMMERSIVE RESIDENCY

✔ 4 weeks of residency at the Universidad de las Américas (UDLA), and during the Mediamorfosis 2023, accommodation included.
✔ an endowment of €2,000
✔ a connection to the local XR ecosystem
✔ flights included
