Bertrand Mandico
Bertrand Mandico is a French author and filmmaker, trained as an animated filmmaker. A graduate of CFT Gobelins, he designs several animated films where he experiments with different techniques. Finally, he is devoting himself to “live action” cinema.
In his films, he mixes cinematic genres and develops a writing and an unique dreamlike style. His creation (short film, medium-length film, feature film) are entirely shot on photographic film. Rewarded and selected in many festivals for his films, he directed his first feature film in 2017 “Les Garçons Sauvages” receiving a substantial public and a lot of critics (including the Prize Louis Delluc).
Also, he directed musical films for electronic music artists (M83/Kompromat) and for the past 9 years, he has been filming a series of short films 20 + 1 films (21 years) with actress Elina Löwensohn.
In 2021, he imagines “Conan La Barbare” at the Théâtre des Amandiers, a hybrid project combining cinema, theater and performances which will be the subject of 4 fictional films (in several formats) as well as exhibitions. He is currently preparing this transmedia film project as well as a fantasy TV series.
