2020 Editorial

For a “borderless” edition

This 2020 edition has a particular flavor, with the experience of these past few months leaving a permanent mark behind. Struck by the successive reporting and cancelling of events, we have nonetheless remained linked, in a new and innovative way.

At the Forum des images and online, the edition you will discover today has been completely rethought. Carried by our passion and the precious support of our partners, we have worked twice as hard. With you, for you, NewImages Festival reinvented itself… in a promising way.

This year, no country of honor: we are celebrating a borderless world, the very idea of community. Our speakers will continue clearing the way for tomorrow’s narrations (Fox Harrell from MIT amongst others), while XR Financing Market (100 % online) reinforces its role as lever for projects in development. Finally, always more innovation in competition: the best VR experiences – including many firsts – are here and a new money prize for AR makes its entrance!

We also want to reaffirm our identity and our convictions: democratization – a festival free of charge for a large public – but also parity and diversity, with the Collectif 50/50 and around women that are the backbone of XR (Ana Ribeiro, Ainslee Robson, Catherine Allen, Marie Blondiaux…).

From September 23 to 27, NewImages Festival will certainly be one of the first XR events to again take place physically, and that truly is a victory! Thank you for your support and your fidelity. One thing is for sure: in person or not, through screens or as avatars, more than ever, we cannot wait to welcome you.
